Our philosophy is simple: In order to produce the high-quality products you expect from us, it is vital that our turkeys stay healthy. Our commitment to their health and well-being starts on the farm.

Hormone & Steroid Free

All Butterball turkeys are raised hormone and steroid free in accordance with USDA requirements. To maintain the health of our turkeys, we will on occasion administer antibiotics, under licensed veterinarians’ guidance, only as needed to ensure they live healthy lives, free of illness. We are committed to the responsible use of antibiotics. In just the last few years, we have reduced by half our use of antibiotics and eliminated use of any labeled as growth promotants. And we intend to further reduce the use of antibiotics in the coming years.

Ensuring Health & Comfort

Our licensed veterinarians monitor closely any medications our turkeys receive and follow all federal regulations set forth by the FDA and the guidelines of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). We also work hand in hand with the American Humane Association (AHA) American Humane Certified™ program to ensure our flocks’ health and comfort. Our mission aligns with that of the AHA: to ensure the welfare, wellness and well-being of our turkeys.

Farm to Family

No-Antibiotics-Ever

Farm to Family by Butterball™

Butterball products labeled as no-antibiotics-ever (NAE) mean just that. From the egg to the day of hatch to processing, these birds receive absolutely no antibiotics of any kind, as long as they remain healthy. We comply with a process the USDA has reviewed and approved.

Farm to Family/NAE birds are fed an all-vegetarian diet which contains whole grains and no animal by-products or hormones. This goes beyond the requirements for the NAE program, but it’s just one more alternative that Butterball uses to provide operators with different marketing choices for their customers.

Our commitment to turkey care and well-being begins at the farm level with the humane raising of our turkeys. To maintain the health of the flock, we administer antibiotics only if needed to ensure they live healthy lives, free of illness. We are committed to the responsible use of antibiotics.
