Prepping for the Holiday Rush

The holiday season is quickly approaching. Whether your operation serves traditional turkey dinners to large parties on Thanksgiving Day, grab-and-go lunch options to busy Black Friday shoppers, or casual holiday brunches throughout the month of December, now is the time to get your back of house in shape for the next few weeks.

  • Inspire employees: Hold a short staff meeting at the beginning and end of the work day to boost morale. Talk about your goals for the day in the morning, and do a quick recap of how things went at the end of the day. It helps to make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Know when you need extra help: Mistakes can happen when your staff is overwhelmed. Hire temporary staff members for your busy season to make sure everything runs smoothly in your back of house.
  • Organize, organize, organize: Create a plan for the busy season before it actually starts. Assign tasks and make a checklist for your staff and for yourself. It’s easy to forget small things when you’re rushing or under pressure.
